My messenger bag is all finished, and I quite like it, except for the very wide strap. I guess I will get used to it. I went out this morning to do some errands, and took the bag with me. It is very floppy, even though I interfaced it with Pelon. I will use the bag some more this week, and see how it holds up. The pattern that I used is blogged about here.
I sewed a sweet little heart shaped button made from wood on to the front flap with bright red thread. The button is just for show as the bag closes with velcro.
Look! No black lining! You should be able to see the pockets in this photo.

It looks great! The wide strap might be a plus if you have a lot of heavy stuff in it--it won't dig into your shoulder so much.
Thanks Audra, I used the bag this week and found the wide strap was comfortable. Now I want to make another one but there are some dolly projects I have lined up to do.
Ive desperately been looking for this material for about a year now. Where did you get it from please? Many Thanks

Hi Keri, I got the fabric from an Australian chain store called Spotlight. The company who made the fabric is cranstonvillage.com I think this design was called Songbirds. Good luck locating it. I have been stopped twice by strangers commenting on how beautiful the fabric is.
